The throttle position sensor has two "signals" going in and two going out. The ECU/harness feeds it +5V (VC) for reference and ground - it returns back a variable voltage signal (VTA) for the throttle position and an idle switch signal (IDL) which connects to ground when the throttle is closed. You can see all these signal names and TPS pin numbers on the 20v silvertop diagram.
