Its easy if you live in the united states..you could have a complete 8.8" ford rearend modified, refurbished and equipped with a new LSD for probably less then the cost of a Cusco diff..maybe slightly more..You have shops specialising in cutting/resplining etc..think its about 400 for a complete rear. and another 200 for the brackets etc.
I'm kindoff in dubio about the welding of the rear brackets..I think you REALLY want to have that done by a certified welder that does welds that conform to NEN standards..checking them by x-ray etc.. You really don't want those welds to fail..luckily its all thick steel so nothing too difficult. I'm doing this myself for my KE25..but that ones easier as it only needs 2 spring platforms welded to it..makes the welding-mockup much simpler. Luckily I have a welding instructor willing to make sure that I don't kill myself.. doesn't hurt that one of the top-dutch institutes in weld-process research is also the place where I go to exercise..
