While your checking your bushes, also check the holes in the bottoms arms where the anti-roll bar (sway bar) drop link bolts through.

This can wear oval.... hence the clonking.

Just get somone to weld some metal back in to it, and ream it out to the correct diameter again.


As a temporary measure, fit an extra washer under the nuts at each end of the drop link, and tighten up. This can take out a bit of the slack in the bushes.

Also check your steering column to steering rack universal joint. A little play here can also cause clonking.
