Exhaust fumes in cabin (Hatch seal problem!)

Well, last weekend I took most of the interior trim in the rear apart but I couldn't seem to find anything untill I closed the hatch and looked from the inside.

As you can see on the picture there is light shining through in between the hatch and the trunk seal. On both the left and right hand side from the lock, the seal isn't even touching the hatch, the opening is quite big and this must be the reason why it is pulling fumes in to the cabin.

I didn't have any time left to check if the hatch is adjustable in height (like the hood of the car). Did anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it? The seal is in really good condition so that does not need replacing.
