Thanks! That's a good suggestion for the steel bracket and I'll use a rubber coating like plastidip.

Nice work! I wouldn't be too afraid that this version won't hold.
Is this the correct EU-size battery? So you can fit an original bracket if you find one? |

Yes, this is the correct EU size battery, so an original bracket would work fine for me as well.

Even though it was a rainy day, I went to a Cars and Coffee in one of the neighbouring towns. I took several photos, but forgot to take one of mine. The Trueno is obscured by the enormous Rolls in front of it:
![]() The Trueno got a lot of attention today as a large portion of the crowd were driving MX5s and Nissan Micra K11s. The Starlet is one of 4 original Starlets remaining that were used in the Starlet Cup driven on the Zandvoort circuit. The car is even on original B-registration, which means it used to be registered as a company van in the 1980s. The battery held up fine, and it was so nice to have an engine that fires up immediately! I don't remember the car ever firing up this instantly before. ![]() About the sticky rear brake issue: I think I found the issue. I did feel the wheels after the drive to the garage. The right-side rear one was warm (not hot), and the right-side front one was cold. I only drove about 10 kilometres in total, so that was much less than last time and last time they were really hot. (getting painful touching the wheels) I usually drive to the garage, put the car in neutral and on the handbrake while I leave the engine running. Today, I deliberately didn't put the car on the handbrake before reversing into the garage and the rear brake wasn't stuck. So, the rear brake isn't the issue. My conclusion is that my rear bearings are most likely due for replacement. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop:

That Starlet is really nice, I feel like there aren't enough fans of the EP71. They're an excellent car and I even had one for a short time, but it seems that unless it's an EP91 turbo or a KP61 then nobody wants a Starlet anymore.

Those starlets have their own little following over here. Plenty of them survived too, which also tells you something about the quality.
80% of the guys I share my garage with own one or had one in the past. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
