I know The Doctor made a lamp from a 2T-G head (or was it a cover?) so it's definitely a good way to reuse your old parts.

I think these are real ones, but probably the bulbs are 12V halogen or LED so they don't draw a lot of current. (and leads are high voltage anyways)

Not highly likely since you need two wires for mains (not saying it's flat out impossible but unlikely).
