I used to build lamps from scrap parts at work for people who left (quit or retired). Using car parts is a smart idea and I absolutely love the valve cover choice. |

I know The Doctor made a lamp from a 2T-G head (or was it a cover?) so it's definitely a good way to reuse your old parts.

Using fake spark plug wires is an absolutely amazing idea.

I think these are real ones, but probably the bulbs are 12V halogen or LED so they don't draw a lot of current. (and leads are high voltage anyways)

Not highly likely since you need two wires for mains (not saying it's flat out impossible but unlikely).

The distributor cap is connected to the cover, so that's the negative in this case. As I said, this appears to be a 12V system.
For mains, it wouldn't be a bright idea, but it would be possible to do it that way as well. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop:

It's regular household wire. The local DIY store had some fabric covered wire which I thought could pass for spark plug wires. Underneath the cap is a normal connecting block to split it into 4 wires for the 4 lamps. I butchered a set of 2T-B spark plug wires for the caps to make them look like spark plug wires. Drilled the dizzy cap to pass the wires through, so they are not removable. I wanted to mount a coil on the place where it goes into the ceiling, but couldn't get it open without completely destroying it, so it looked shit.
