Need help with ignition

hi there we got an ae86 sedan it was my grandpa car anyway its not in very good condition.I tried to put the key into the ignition slot but it wouldn't enter ... is there any way to start the car with the flat screwdriver trick or we have to hot wire it?

I've got the '83 Trueno Hatchback and for me the key needs to be slightly and gently forced into the ignition. Have you tried spraying just a small ammount of lock lubricant and carefully ease the key in there. Just be carefull not to bend it tho :wink:

yea we tried that way also but we dont want to brake the key inside the lock

bump i want to know if the thing with the screwdriver works before we ruin the cylinder lock we will use slide hammer or hotwiring if it doesnt work

On my other AE86, i don't have lock, just the plastic part which can be turned with screwdriver.
It fires every time
Remove the lock and try.

First post on here and he's talking about hotwiring and turning ignitions with a screwdriver !
