i have a 1987 sr5 and my speedo isnt working. need idea's please it has a vi

it litterly just stopped working... everything else still works.

The best way to approach this is to start at the gearbox and work forward as a broken / worn speedo drive gear is a common fault.
You need to get the back of the car in the air by using a jack and stands, normal workshop rules apply.
Release the handbrake (E brake ?) so the rear wheels can turn.
Climb underneath the car and unscrew the speedo cable from the gearbox.
Now you need to turn the propshaft with your hand whilst watching the
drive gear in the gearbox where the cable was.
It should be turning.
