cylinder head dimensions
Does anyone know if there is a quick way of telling if a head has been skimmed ?
Some manufacturers give a measuring point and minimum allowable dimension. Thanks, TC An analogue brain in a digital World |

not specified because I thought it would be obvious.... 4age 16v...
Anyway I think I got what you are saying but can you tell me where the marks are and what the stock dimensions are ? An analogue brain in a digital World |

measure combustion chambers volume. The easiest way. I wouldn't run under 35cc/ea. if you're not runnin high octane fuel, good ignition control and knock sensor. Stock are 39cc/ea.
hope it helps IF Carlsberg made an AE86, then it would be propably the best car in the world... |

Yes it does thanks. Lots. If just 4cc is the window then measuring the chamber volume has got to be crucial to a reliable build. An analogue brain in a digital World |

even 2cc is massive so yes put some grease around the valves and fill the chamber up to see where it is

Stock are NOT 39cc.... at least not on the 3 heads I've checked.
![]() Stock appears to be 36.5cc to 37cc. 39cc may be after someone has de-shrouded around the valves.

it's a burette at the beginning you fill it up (top is zero) - then you start letting fluid into the chamber to find out the volume by reading the value

Great! So no spilling and better accuracy. I shall have to get one when the time comes... Cheers!
