Why wont it start?
Hello. I have a 4AGE engine, in my GTs with only 80000 original miles. Now, When I first got the car, I drove it home, but, now that it sat, It doesn't want to run. Let me explain. You see, I try and start it, and it will start!!!!, but it will not stay on! It will start, then shut off in about three seconds. I was wondering what it possibly could be? I bought a new starter, fuel filter and pump, new sparkplugs, and alternator for the car. It just will not stay on! I even Bought a new Mas airflow sencor to make sure I had a good fuel and air mixture going into the motor. Ehat else could it be? I was thinking maybe it could be the injectors. What do you guys think? I would really appriciate the help. Thankyou.

Does it stay on if you rev the engine?

If the engine starts but then fades and dies within seconds (faster if you
try and rev it), you probably don't have any power to the main injectors.

It will be firing up on the start injector, but this only supplies fuel while
the engine is cranking. As soon as you let go the key, the injector closes
and the engine fades and dies as the fuel in the manifold is consumed.

Check that you have power to the main injectors when the ignition is "ON".
Supply comes from the dashboard loom, and is one of the larger pins in
the big loom connector plug at the rear of the engine on the firewall.

If no power, you can check that the engine will run by making a
temporary connection to put 12 volts direct from the battery on to the
engine side of the opened loom connector. Find the right pin first Tongue

If the engine starts and runs OK, you most likely have a problem with a
relay or bad connection in the injector power supply wiring circuit.

Hope this helps Smile

hmm sounds very familiar Smile

to quote what helped me:
mrgud Wrote:Man, check your grounds... (I had the similar problm), just do it...
If you took the head off you had to take off the ground wireing of the intake manifold. Check if that is back...

check them all - one might have come loose

read my thread http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ae86/t/4977
I had the very same problem and almost gone nuts...
