GR Heritage put up a video today featuring the rebuild of the GT-V, and in this video, they explain why they decided to reproduce the engine components:

Around the 1:47 mark, you can read (in the translation) that customers had been complaining that parts (the block? And the head?) were breaking, so they decided to reproduce them better.

If you pause the video @2:23 you'll clearly see they also created a RWD smallport manifold that they havent mentioned anywhere afaik.

That's a very sharp observation!

I also watched this week's Cool JDM show (yes, that's actually a "real" title!) earlier today. One of their employees attended the Initial D 30th anniversary meeting, where all this was presented. Apparently, Toyota had two AE86es with them that had the G16E engine swapped into them.

From the video, seems that this AE86 does not have TVIS, which makes this a small port RWD version?
