The Long road to D1
Well after owning my Corolla for nearly 6 months its time to start working on it, the car is pretty much completely stripped, this is how I bought it. The previous owner has seam welded about 70% of the shell already, and I will finish that off before I can move on to getting the engine back in a get it running. I hope to have the car running, rust free, rollcaged, and drift ready for march/april next year to take part in the drift compitions
Here are a few pictures as it looks now: |

What kind of engine did they try to stuff in there before, SR20? Nice way to start of a drift-car project BTW...stripped but-naked so you can immediately start work on it.

wasn't this the car where they tried to put a Vauxhall/Opel 2.0 16V engine in?

Oh yeah, I wonder what those things cost...wouldnt install one in my car but it's probably cheaper than any japanese 2.0 16v engine, and the power output is respectable.

Yeah the guy I bought it off, was going to stick a 2.0 16v Vauxhall XE lump, really good engines, stack loads of torque over the 4age, but not really in the spirt of things, I've got a 4age, engine and gearbox to put back in

I could be wrong but didn't this car also come round here when it was owned by the owner before the last owner?
Maybe I am mixing cars up but I remember this story about a hachi in the UK that wouldn't start and was eventually sold to someone that was going to put a vauxhall engine in.. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Yep sounds like this one, the first UK owner sold it after having problems with the car cutting out. Good to see my cars already well known around here

CircuitFreak Wrote:Nice looking car. I don't like the idea either, but a C20XE is one of the best N/A 2.0 16V engines in relation to the price "It's all about the heart, the people who focus on parts, turbo's and all that stuff...they're just losers." -Shinji Minowa |
