Spare wheel & spare wheel carrier
Hi folks,

2 things - My 86 came no spare wheel, and no spare wheel carrier (Toyota part 5190012020 ).

Does anyone know what is the maximum size wheel you can fit in the spare wheel well ? i.e. 14" alloy with tyre ? and also ideally does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the spare wheel carrier bolt/nut setup ?

thanks

Any full-size wheel will stick out of the well vertically, so if you want a flush spare, it needs to be some form of narrow emergency wheel.

I removed the spare long ago, but don't remember whether or not the bolt that held it in place was missing when I received the car or not. The spare was a single RS Watanabe 14x6 wheel.

I printed my own carrier:

If I remember it correctly, I used a standard M8 rod and nut from the local hardware store and cut it to length. Total cost was something like 5 euros. It supports two different diameters for the center bore (60mm and 70mm), but lacks the diameter for the Almex (73mm). It's fine, and I never had an issue with the wheel shifting around. I can share the file with you if you like.
