Sometimes will crank but won't start.
About 1-2 times a week, this usually happens: the car will crank but won't start; 10 seconds later I try again and it starts up fine. It seems to me that if the car has been sitting more than 24 hours, there is a greater chance of having the crank no start issue.
My battery seems to be ok (12.5V with engine off, 14.2V at 1500rpm with warm engine on). I am still new to self repairs on cars and would appreciate any help. The spark plugs and timing belt were changed 8000km ago. The car is a stock kouki. I took a video of the car having trouble starting, don't know if this could help diagnose. I guess that it could be the fuel filter...
I don't think there is anything wrong with your starter if it turns your engine over every time. BTW how do I watch your video? sounds a bit like the starter is stuck the first seconds after the engine starts... that whine that it makes before it runs normally.

Thanks for the answers guys. I got bogged down with work right now so can't really spend time looking into it.
In a week or so I will clean the injectors and change the fuel filter, see if that helps and get back to you. |
