Redtop inlet manifold modification for ae86

Anyone tried doing this welding job, and have info on what to watch out for?
Please supply me with pics if possible

Looks like a basic cut & weld job to me. Just make sure that the throttle body flange is welded back in place at the correct angle. You'll also need to make some new holes for that throttle cable bracket.

1. Machine cutting using special bi-metal knife.

2. Argon welding.

you could use a manifold adaptor
but then you have to use 2 gasket sets

And it would probably cost more, and make less power due to the less than ideal shaped intake track. I would prefer a cut-and welded smallport manifold myself. Some people argue that the aesthetics arent very appealing but that all depends on the amount of effort you put into the finish of you welds. (Just look at the differences in the pictures in this thread for example...)

True.....I have come to the conclusion that as a temporary solution, I simply will not spend another $250 on adapters and so forth. I prefer spending between nothing - $50, allthough an adapter would look the best i guess.
