Project new 86
Hi everyone, finnaly decided to open the thread for my new 86,
making a long story short, I had a lot of 86s in my lifetime, but this particular one was with me for 10 years (mint and massive spec) I moved from Portugal to the UK at January this year, got excited with some skylines and decided to sell it, stupidest mistake of my life, the car is now with a happy owner in Sweden. (krullbully here on the forum) After realizing no Skyline would ever make me as happy as a Corolla, decided to bid on some in Japan, went to see some around the midlands and south, but ended up buying a rust free and cheap project from the Netherlands, another LHD) (previously owned by Barry at RacingMinded here in the forum as well) Here is what i got: Work has been carried out at a very slow pace, cause i work with cars all day, and get lazy to work on my own after i leave the garage Engine and gearbox out: Painted the engine bay Cutted the dashboard to fit the roll cage and tested all the electrics before starting on the wiring loom. Painted the interior this weekend this is it thus far, plan is to go with a beige body - black bumpers combination, kouki rear and some other bits, will start rebuilding the engine as soon as interior is finished. |

Great to see that car ended up with you!
Isn't that the 4-AGE TVIS ITB-ed Sprinter with Redline strutbar, Tociko dampers, and small driving lights mounted that Speedhunters posted earlier this week? Yeah this is the one, it belongs to a middle age constrution worker in Japan, how epic is that?
First time i've seen it was in Caseys blog and i just fell in love with it. A new picture from today: Meanwhile the engine is now on a stand and ready to be disasembled |

Copy paste from my blog:
If your into building cars then you know that once things start to look like you planned, you cant help but smile and even haste things a little bit in order to finish your beloved project. Most people that surround me know that when it comes to cars im never 100% happy with the way I built a cetain car... there is always something that "could" be miles better. In this particular AE86, I am in the mindset of "that will do for now", something that I never thought I would do, but I know for a fact this will be driven hard, and keeping thing not perfect sometimes help you out in driving like you just dont care. So far, the wings are back on the car and color tested, some engine bay bits are now in place and the headlights and grill were refurbished from nasty to aceptable. The engine is still in the stand, hoping for a free afternoon to see how damaged it is. Check out the new Bride seat on the second pic, a tsunami survivor from Alans car that found its way to the Corolla after a nice clean. More updates soon enough! |

Just a quick update on how things are going, nothing special
really, just decided to do this post to thank Zax for the steering rack brackets I got today. Sometimes when you think money is what makes the world go round, life bites you in the ass and proves you otherwise. This is exactly what happened here, I got a set of brackets for free, asking nothing in return (not even the money for shipping to the UK), from fellow AE86 Brother from Croatia, Zax. The brackets were painted in white and will remain in this color to remind me of the generosity of a total stranger... but a a Corolla brother at the sime time. I added a pic of Zax's car doind what he does best - Drifting. "Hvala brate Zax, ono što vam treba mi samo reći" |

Doors, windows, strips and mouldings, rear lights and all out so start the body works. Found some rust patches under the sills, and under the quarter windows, but fortunatly they are easily repaired, also, was not feeling the yellow cage so decided to go for a full black interior. More updates soon. |
