Hehe, stod og kiggede på den blå coupe, til sprint for nogle måneder siden på falster. så godt skaringen, og tænkte om det var træ, eller sten den havde taget.

Time for some more news from my project. Have removed all parts from the red one, so that I can start work on my own, on the rear.

Started to remove the roof skin, cleaned the area where the two plates were assembled, so that I could see all the spot welds.



When I removed the windshield, I could see several places where there it had rusted... Always a surprise with some new rust.



Decided to remove the rust, while til roof skin still where attached to the shell. This it would not come out shape, and when I remove the skin, its easily to paint the underside of the roof



The previous owner, had cut away some of the roof, so there a big hole, that has to closed...



Luckily I had saved the roof from my own car, and could cut the missing piece from it.



Unfortunately it had some damage, and it was covered with 5-8mm of filler, so used a lot of time to get it in to shape again, it still has some small dent in it. But that's a easy fix. Used some copper plate on the back side of the roof, so that the heat from the welding, wont bend the roof.



After it was welded, and the welding was grinded down, I applied a layer of body tin with a heat blower. This is the correct way to do it, but as it was my first time, it took a lot of time to learn how to use it, but the end result is perfect layer of Tin.



After a lot of hand sanding, you can see the area where the Tin has settled in, and the roof feels perfect



Now I just needed to drill all the spot welds, and remove it from the shell, now I got a roof skin, with a Genuine Sun Roof. The sliding roof has some deep rust, and the Weatherstrip for Sun Roof Panel, won't fit anymore. So I have been so lucky, to find a brand new one in Japan. As Toyota don't have it anymore. 350 Euro with freight and Taxes not bad.



Cut the shell in half, after roof was removed.



Removed the rear quarter panel, to see how much of the inner panel could be used on my own. I was very happy to see, that there only where some minor rust on it, so now I can get a genuine inner panel on my car




The rest of the shell, has been divided in to smaller pieces, by drilling the spot welds.

Thanks. Yea it will almost take 3 shell's to put one together, still got a lot of part's left from the red.
But it takes a lot of time to put the car back together again, but then I know it's all genuine part's that is used in the shell

To bad you can't buy body part's anymore, still need some part's for the rear end... Can't find them anywhere

Yeah, it gets worse with normal parts to, looks like they are draining the stock and stopped making new parts.

Think I am one of the persons that are draining Toyota for parts, bought a lot from them. Got a good deal from a Toyota dealer, and gets 25% discount on part's. So I was tempted
