Who has actually used, installed, mapped this ECU set up?

I am considering options and this seems like a cheap alternative that seems to have a decent amount of support and will allow me to tune the car myself.

I would appreciate if people with the system or experience of it could impart their views on how it performs etc?

Also 1 specific questions:

Is there a max RPM that this set up is good for (like a system imposed limiter)?

My car is currently running dual Mikuni Solex carbs – the stock ECU is still in place but the timing is locked out (no TPS or MAP signal) so timing is just being driven off RPM signal.

Look forward to your responses.

Cheers

James

I'm also slightly leaning towards building a MJLJ ignition w/ EDIS4 for my car (which is going to use 44PHH Mikunis as well) and have been looking for the same info. Found this in an eBay ad selling some EDIS gear;

"EDIS has a quoted upper limit of 9000rpm, but in practice some have seen 9300 or 10500rpm."

Not very conclusive, but apparently at least 9000rpm is safe.

Hi,

Thanks for the response! I presume the lack of replies on the forums indicates that this system isn’t widely used with AE86 owners? Do you know of any other good sources of information on this system? Thought there were a few others on here that had used the system?

If EDIS runs to 9k then that should be plenty, I only intend to go to 8 / 8.5k. I don’t know why but I had a nagging feeling that EDIS was only good up to 7.8k – need to do some more research.

Do you think a 2d map using the MJL system would be better than a 3d map using the stock ECU?

I am also running Mikuni Solex PH44’s – I have the full manual for these Carbs on PDF if you don’t have it. Let me know if you want a copy. Do you know where to get new seal kits for the Carbs? I have a suspicion that one of the Carbs has a slight fuel leak which I want to resolve

Cheers

James
