As if you notice where it is parked..I'll trade you for a volvo that I "am" allowed to take above 50km/h. Smile

How about you take that little note with the partnr. for your KE25 windscreen (that toyota went to great lengths for to find out for me), and buy the damn thing.

Sorry guys didn't mean to cause a fight... I'll not report spotting nohachi again since it's seems to be hard on Ivan :-)

@noHachi: I do have a slight idea of where you live since that probably is where I usually saw the Volvo parked, and indeed something like a KE25 but that's been a while. So if you drive from where I think you live to CiTG all the time what do you need a car for that goes over 50km/h ???? :-)

EE80, I don't unless I need to go to work immediately after college. Thats what I need a car for. Its a 15 minute drive or 1.5 hours by public transport..
Don't worry yourself about any fights, I'm one head taller then Ivan and currently in better shape..He doesn't stand a chance so it will al be over quickly [chuckle]

Wow...8 pages of little progress, mine must be one of the most-delayed projects on the forum..but no fear, almost have all my new panels complete so I can start serious work.

Today me and Robokill swapped my cars 2nd engine for a 4AGE we ripped out of an ae82 a few months ago.My old engine still ran strong, but I was having some annoyances (oil consumption/smell, turns out that its mostly due to bad valve cover rubbers...doh..such an easy fix), and some weird noises (probably the throwout bearing of the clutch).
The new 4AGE is a bit of a mystery though... came out of an '86 ae82.
It has a TVIS head, 7-rib block, but this one has the smallport style 5-spoke campulleys. A weird combination of things, most likely not something that ever came stock on an ae82.

We did all the work by ourselves...no help from outside whatsoever. I'm amazed that all went well. It did take about 12 hours of slaving around the car to get it all done. Swapping stuff over between engines is probably half the work. Now I have myself a beautifully smooth and quiet 4age, and the gearshift has improved noticeably from the new throwout bearing.

Weird thing I noticed about 4age's the last few years, my former engines were all somewhat raw & noisy examples, but they both pulled well. The smooth and quiet ones mostly perform less and seem to rev a bit slower.

Another bit of usefull info.. You can use FWD waterpumps as long as you use the FWD pulleys on them. Saved my ass because some shop sold me the wrong type 1,5 years back (had been collecting dust up till now).

Pictures!!!

Cool Ivan, glad to hear you got a good purring engine in there now!Big Grin

Just the rubbers huh, just proves yet again you worry to much Tongue Just pulling your leg man, seriously though, I've found that in my hachi ownership I've often thought the worse was wrong with my car, but in the end, it didn't turn out to be anything major..

Greetz,

Moved down under, no more hachi Sad

Cool Thumbs up!
Now you have no excuse to not drive the car. Big Grin

But since it's already a 7 rib block, isn't it a smallport block then? Dumb question
