Ignition Coil - It worth the money upgrade it?
As the subject says...

As my car has 240.000 Km should i replace the ignition coil? How can i test it?

If it is necessary to replace it, should i replace by an original one or there are better after market coils available?

Depends on the money you want to give! The best solution for me is to built a coil-on-plug system, but it will cost you....

No, the car is for road purposes and some trackdays.

So, nothing too expensive or sophisticated...

I think you only really need to replace it once it starts going bad.. (which is something you would probably notice). If you do feel the need to find out if there is any performance to be gained by an aftermarket coil, just get yourself an uprated MSD coil or something similar...will be much easier to install then a completely different setup (eg. coilpacks/coil-on-plug).

Well, i checked today the resistance values as indicated in the 4AGE Repair Manual and the values are within the specifications.

So and for now, i will keep the original ignition coil.

Tomorrow i will check the distributor, specially the rotor and the cap.

Just replace those two..always a good idea and cost almost nothing.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear
