Swapping in everything from a GTS would probably be your best bet money wise in the long term. That said, the 4AC engine isn't a dead beat either, there are tuning options for it that give it some extra HP..
Head over to our friends at http://www.club4ac.com, I'm sure they can give you a clear picture of what is possible and what the costs are and you can compare it to swapping a 4AG in. Not everyone has the expertise to do a swap and having a garage perform the swap can become expensive and in such a case I guess tuning the 4AC a little would be a viable option.
