Great progress.. That gearbox bracket sure is overkill.. I'd have made new mounting points on the chassis and make a simpler one.

Yeah totally. But it was a time decision. To do the floor mounts properly would have reqyired pulling the interior out.

This was was just quicker and it doesnt eight #that much more than stock. Mainly cos the Bush is much lighter lol

Ticked off a small job

Been avoising this with various excuses, but basically i didn't know how to tackle it.

Held my breath and jumped in. Came out ok lol. Spooge skills are on the up...

Also, car is a nice toasty place to work with the heat gun going .... Pretty neat.. If a console will fit over it then it's awesome.

Yeah console fits fine.

Trying to decide on whether or not to run a shift boot or just the console lol

I'd keep the shift boot.. The 80's look of the thing just suits the interior well.

So not much has happened.

I got really excited, and decided to make life simple I would spend the cash on complete clutch and flywheel kit. Its lot of money for us. Lots.

Pulled it out last weekend to fit up and get the engine and box back in the final time....

Cunting thing has no ring gear.

So now I'm waiting on a ring gear from someone mainland. Dunno why, but this hiccup ahs properly busted my balls...

I made an extended clutch reserv I r to clear the tumpets also. [Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

Had to some trickery to fit a heater tap in there also, but it came out ok.

The boosterless brake set-up is also in, but then I found a leaking flare on my rear. So waiting on a tool to redo those, and can bleed up and see how it all goes... So sadly, im still fighting with the clutch and flywheel adventure.

Ended up sending the whole fucking thing back and waiting for a refund.

The flywheel was not machined correctly and couldn't be made to fit.

The replacement purchase won't be supplied for a month.... over it lol

I did get the brakes bled finally, no leaks and they all work. The handbrake even works... [Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

Spending lots of cash and getting subpar parts must be a really frustrating. But I'm sure you can find lots of other stuff to do in the meantime.

Yeah, basically I've run out of fucks lol.

I have some tidy up jobs, but nothing much to actually go on with until the engine is back in the car.

I did a deal with a mate to do the bracket swap on a diff for his project, and in return he will do all the wiring for lolla. Lol.

Made good progress on that, until we hit a hurdle.

The replacement mounts he bought are not sized correctly from the original, so my jig doesn't work... :/ waiting to hear back from the supplier. They said initially the jig must be a poor design, but I cant see how that can have a bearing on a hole being 45mm too close to the edge ??? Lol
