I just couldn't get why you had so retarded ignition timing in the past test with the detonations (are they gone?) and what is with the ignition timing on the 170 hp dyno? i believe this is 170 on the flyheel, which is still quite impressive. 240 hp would require some hardcore tunning - thats N2/group A boys' turf and even they dont all get that much (reliable) power.
Apardal its so awesome to se you on a track, using your car for what you built it for. I remember us starting to work on our cars about the same time a couple years ago, now it must be quite a reward that you can enjoy it to the fullest. ![]() |

well its almost 60 hp (or 50%) improovement over the stock engine, as you know toyota's advertised bhp output was considerably higher than actual power. Possibly we will see more gains in the future after fine tunning and maybe better exhaust system.. im no expert but i think another 20 hp or so is within reach. over that mark, some serious engenering is required and expenses go through the roof. You're better of just buying a formula atlantic or fully tuned N2 engine.

No, I'm better to do the race car magic with stock engine internals and overworked head and custom intake/exhaust with calculated wave tuning to have a big gain... I'll show my cards when I start the topic... But an engine simulator showed me that I can have 170 hp at crank with stock cams and 11:1 comp ratio

Hi guys! Some action in my project thread! Been a while since I last updated it.
Regarding my work, I'm a civil engineer and the only reason I have money left to spend in my car is because I still live with my parents which is a big help moneywise. The car has around 170hp at the flywheel and I don't think I can get much more than 10hp from it knowing that cam timing is very close to its best setting, I think, and the VE tables are spot on. There is some tuning left to do, of course, but I don't think i'll find more than 10hp under the bonnet. I have somethings at my garage to assemble right now, which is a 6 puk clutch, T3 lateral bar, brembo 4pot big brake kit, Buddy club exhaust, quaife quick rack, NCRCA's and maybe some other things I can't recall right now. I do not have much time left to spend on assemblies right now so I think I'll leave the car at a shop to put it together. The car hasn't run much since its last track day which was in February because the middle muffler got ripped apart and it makes a lot of noise. I think it will get even louder with the buddy club. I'm affraid I'll regret buying it... hope not. I'll have some news and photos in the next weeks. Best regards |
