CJ's AE86 project
Engine has been fully rebuilt:
81.5 cylinder porting 11:1 Arias forged pistons Pauter Chrome-Moly rods TRD MLS headgasket New OEM Toyota crankshaft ACL Race rod and main bearings Fidanza light-weight flywheel First impressions: nothing fancy As a movie characters says: "Well, it can move..." I am using a Megasquirt setup and therefore the car needs further adjustments. I believe i can achieve much better results and will try to run a couple of dynos. Meanwhile will try to add about 1000 "mild" miles on the dashboard. I deeply appreciate the help of my friends - bad_dog & Co. 1984 Toyota Corolla 4AGE 20v 2007 Subaru Impreza STi |

Here is a movie from the first test runs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ri1e7AtJfQ Although trying to perform a drift, the car feels very sticky and i find it hard to achieve high angle without using the e-brake. It definitelly needs further engine management tuning. 1984 Toyota Corolla 4AGE 20v 2007 Subaru Impreza STi |

cj, what's the weight of that fidanza? Would be great if you had part number too. Reason I'm asking is I bought one (4kg) for 4AGE smallport but since it's plug&play I put it on my blacktop (stock engine). There are problems with it however (at least I think flywheel is causing it). During 1000-3000 RPM I can't accelerate at all -- no matter the gear. The car just stalls. At around 4500-5000 RPM it goes as it should.

Those trumpts are.. I want my 20v too.
But can i ask you, is there reason why you changed the conrods? Already the stock are overkill and the pauters are for serious boost power. Are they much lighter as the stock ones? http://www.86ers.org All the hachies that Daytona can only dream about. |

Quaife quick steering rack installed today. Before putting it on i added 2 more teeths to it and also modded the inner tie rods for more angle. Haven't really tested the new setup, but did notice that significant more power is requireded to turn the wheel. Looks like i'll have to attend the gym more often

Cj, any improvement on the maximum steering angle with this rack?

ZaX Wrote:Cj, any improvement on the maximum steering angle with this rack? Quaife QSR's don't improve angle. They're the same length as stock ones. They just improve the responsiveness of the steering as it takes less steering wheel movement vs rack movement. Andrew |
