I like it, except for the color. I'd rather have it in either 8A9 or just white panda.

That car seems to disappear for a few years and then reappear in the occasional thread. I think I even posted a picture of it here in 2004, so it's been around for a while. It would be great to know some of the history of it, looks like a decent build since it's lasted so long. Maybe the owner will turn up here one day.

My guess is that this car was build in the heydey of German coach build convertibles. There where a load of companies building custom convertible cars. (Voll and Schwann being 2 of them doing Toyota's). I had a Voll AA63 Celica once. Decent build cars.

In other weird AE86 versions.... This is what I saw last week, also nicely done in my opinion.

I'm not sure if these are the same car or not. I've had these photos for a very long time and don't remember where I got them.

I think it's 100% the same car, or 100% the same coach builder. Same Haslbeck trim including rims and spoiler. It also got the door frames removed, just like the car for sale now.

This is definitely a coach builder car. The company that made the conversion is sadly no more so this car is a nice relic of the time.

A friend and I got in touch with the owner who agreed to come with this very car to our AE/GT/GR86 meet in Cologne on July 2nd by the way. Anyone who is interested, is welcome. Meet is free of charge and in partnership with the Toyota museum in Cologne, which opens every first saturday of a month, is also free of charge and most historic cars are open for you to sit in. Also on that day, the museum itself hosts the Celica days.

Confirmed that it has been converted by Voll
I found a German article with the story behind the two companies. HP Schwan (located in Würzburg) actually developed/designed the cabriolet initially, but Voll Karroseriebau (also located in Würzburg) built them. Some sources say Schwan went bankrupt and Voll took over the company. After the A60 series Voll also did the T16 officially via Toyota. Voll went bankrupt early 1990s after the T16 got replaced by the T18. Voll also built Opel Ascona cabriolets but that stopped around 1988 and there was no direct replacement. Quite an interesting story...
