If you want to get serious with tuning the cams you will need to check
the duration. If you have 272 duration or higher, you will probably need to crack the throttle open and idle at 1000 or 1100 rpm. Higher overlap lowers the manifold vacuum at idle, degrades the MAP signal, and confuses the ECU. However, longer duration cams are always going to do their best work at high rpm, and idle quality is the tradeoff. Quad throttles are said to give much better idle, but they are almost always installed with an aftermarket ECU, so not a fair comparison. Cheers... jondee86 |
