Need help anyone

Problem i have is when i drive my car norma its ok l but as soon as i put my foot down for a long period and and turn it off and try to start it again it doesnt go but m yignition lights go in but starter doesnt go .when i swing the key my lights goes dim and my dask clock goes dead then i must let it stand for a while before it will kick

can any one one tell me what it could be,as i cleaned the termainals and replaced the one checked all the cables ...
