Hi, I am running a sierra type 9 'box.
Here is some info: A bellhousing is available, Raw engineering do one but it is expensive and is likely to need modification. An RM sport one is what you need, I believe this can be used with both sizes of flywheel but is worth checking. I know where a used RM bellhousing is for sale. You will need to fit a different sized spigot bearing to the crank, use Raw engineering for this. Use a Toyota clutch cover and an MGB clutch plate (200mm) A modification will need to be done to the release bearing, boring out the Toyota one I think. You will also need to modify the rear gearbox mount. I believe Gartrac can do this for you. The propshaft will need to be fitted with a Ford end to fit the gearbox, this will mean a modified prop. The gearlever hole will need a slight mod. Is it worth it ? Type 9 gearboxes are ten a penny and quite strong. The only downside is that first gear is a little short in my opinion. I have a new Quaife type 9 ready to fit....... 2.8 capri boxes have better ratios but the input shaft is too long, this can be shortened quite easily. hth An analogue brain in a digital World |
