Keeping cool....
The 4AGE has a relief valve built into the oil pump to prevent the oil
pressure becoming too high during high rpm operation. The factory oil cooler is a bypass type with its own relief valve. At low rpm the oil cooler relief valve is closed, and no oil goes to the cooler. At high rpm the oil flow increases, the pressure rises and the relief valve opens. Excess oil flows thru the cooler and returns to the sump. An after market full-flow oil cooler will be more effective. A new sandwich plate that returns all the oil from the cooler to the engine will be required. Remove the factory plate and block off the return to the sump. A system that includes a thermostatic valve to restrict oil flow to the cooler at low engine temperatures, would be nice ![]() Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
