Widar - Thanks mate. I'm not too worried about making it look good, it's about how it drives and how it can improve me as a driver. It drives much better than it looks...
The engine, ECU & loom etc was £900, taken from a crashed 1996 JDM AE111 Trueno BZ-G with 45,000 km. The front mount dizzy kit, Ultra leads set, velocity stacks and Annex water block kit were BIG money, imported from Japan. Don't know how much for sure, since I didn't buy them, but in the region of $1500 US + shipping & taxes for the bits. Putting that money into a nicely built 16v would yield much more power, but I love the flat delivery of the 20v and the ITB's concerto, as well as stock reliability/longevity. There are other, cheaper ways of doing the swap and more expensive, cleaner ways too but this works very well for a stock engine and is a nice & tidy fit. Ultimate would have to be Freedom ECU with a DLI set-up, like Moto's from Club4AG, but that is more money. Obviously a 4AGZE would make a far more potent weapon for the money, but I like the challenge and feel of NA and can do without having to change my diff/shafts/gearbox every week (I've got enough diff troubles with the NA power!)... |
