Fuel Line Question
I am working on getting an 87 Corolla GTS running again. It's been sitting for a long time and the fuel pump stopped working. I replaced the pump. The couplings on the fuel delivery line were too corroded to come apart so I had to leave the lines attached and drop the tank away from the pump assembly. This made it a bit more difficult to change the pump, but I got it back together without much trouble.
The problem is that the steel line coming out of the pump assembly is really corroded and when I tried to start the car fuel started leaking out. Since the couplings are too corroded to come apart, I cut the delivery line so I could drop the tank. I am wondering what my options are. I was thinking I could cut the hard line back to a good section by the pump and cut it after the couplings. Then put a rubber hose in it's place with hose clamps. I could try to find the whole pump assembly but I don't think I'd be able to get the pipe couplings off. Any other ideas? I am running a stock fuel pump and I'm not planning on racing or anything. Thanks. |
