Flywheels and urban myths....
Lightening flywheels needs to be done with some understanding
of the dynamics. If the weight can be removed from the outer rim without affecting the structural integrity of the flywheel, or creating stress risers, there should be no problem. I have lightened a stock smallport as per the attached pic. I am using it with an OEM 212 mm clutch kit inside a T50.
