First elises were delivered with a Rover K-engine. However with the Rover engine was already pushed too far to the limit and Lotus wanted more, so from the second series onward they used the 2ZZ-GE engine.

Back on topic: I once found a UK website of Esprit owners saying they should source those lights from the AE86 since those cars were nothing special anyway. Rustbuckets good for one thing: sourcing rear lights for the Esprit.
