The winter salts will atack these kinds of spots at an enormous rate Mux. Its ok now, but this will become a problem. It IS a problem for every single ae86 in Holland that is being used every day...the rustproofing is just non-existant. You know yourself how frustrating it gets once the rust settles in..the only thing that will get the car decent again is a good cleanup and respray..even then its not guaranteed that you won't have problems again.
Ivan's hachi has been rustproofed once in the past I believe..seing the difference between the parts they havan't reached and the parts treated I would say its well worth the money. Also you really want to do this once and do it well. A professional job will cost you a lot of money, but they will drill holes in the unibody to coat the inside of sills, remove petroltanks etc etc So that it will last some time. Doing it cheap will cost you in the long run. I know it isn't as sexy as slapping tons of tuning parts onto your hachi, but once you get to into rust, just browse the forums to find out what kind of problems you will be in.
