That company that ee80 mentioned also does some kind of electrolytic ccoating process if you want them to.. that way the entire car is uniformly coated with a protective layer (0,4u thick, so not too drastic). It's not exactly anodising but something similar. If someone has enough money to throw around on chemically stripping and acid dipping, then that person can surely afford to have it coated as well.
