Just an update that some may find useful:
My suspicions about the main pin were correct, it was ever so slightly bent when fitted. The end that bolts to the carrier was not perfectly flat so the pin was offcentre when bolted up. Maybe this info will help anyone else with sticking rear brakes. Thanks to all that replied  RS
