This is not experience from the hachi, but it still applies:
On the pug, I run 205/40-17 in the summer and 195/50-16 in the winter. I run an extremely hard suspension (2,5-3x standard), which together with the Bridgestone S-03's give an unbelievable feel for the road. The winter tires are too high profile, and when driving over stripes on the road and similar little bumps they make the car bounce a little bit afterwards. Upping the pressure to 3bar helped a little, but it's far from perfect. Basically: Harder suspension necessitates lower profile tires. The Bridgestones have good longevity and heat up fast in the dry for excellent grip. They could be better in the wet, and they are slightly noisy.
