The head's been reworked fairly seriously, with 2 angle cuts on the exhaust valves, 3 angle on the inlets. Lots of experienced gas flowing going on there too..!
The cams are Toda Racing with 11mm lift and 304 Degrees of rotation each. They'd wanted to use TRD cams of much the same profile, but TRD have stopped making them, which is understandable considering how long the engine's been out of production now! The mapping's done by TPS, but all the software is in Japanese anyways...It's unlikely you can map it, even if you get the Jap software. I'd suggest changing the ECU for an Apexi PFC or something else that you can remap (£545 through Newera Parts.com) As a guide, the biggest differences to power are given not only by breathing, but also from higher compression. 11.5 : 1 is the ratio my engine will run. More bang per stroke... I believe they may have uprated the injectors too, but I don't know to what spec. If you're thinking of some serious tuning, you can do this in the UK with a full 200 bhp kit available from Toda Racing (Again, http://www.neweraparts.com can supply this, at lower prices than available from their UK distributor). May be worth double checking to make sure you do have an AE92 engine, as this would be essential to allow high power tuning... On the AE92 head, on the inlet side - there's 3 lines cast between each strengthening rib. On the AE86 standard head there isn't. An AE92 engine has greater internal strength and a more "tunable head". You would also need some AE101 con rods (Balanced!) and AE101 crank too, to be able to run to 9,000 rpm in addition to the Toda Racing kit... Reason I mention the Toda Racing kit is that it comes with a mapped ECU too...For Jap fuel, but being an N/A Engine, you should be OK on 98 RON with Japanese mapping, although it's best to map for UK fuel, hence an Apexi PFC may be best. As a final note, the throttle bodies that come with the Toda Racing kit are really for race use... Their design works very well for high engine speeds, but at idle as the injectors are close to the edge of the bell mouths, fuel dribbles out. Not ideal for a road car and possibly an MOT failure... Hence the reason why AE101 throttle bodies are favoured for tuned AE92 lumps. I've probably given an info overload here, but hopefully it's of some help. I'd love to see some properly tuned 'Rollas in the UK too! VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITES!!!!
