In some countries it's considered sensitive as a valid VIN could be used to register your car under certain circumstances. A VIN (JT2-AE86...) is different than your frame number (AE86-0XXXXXX) as it is made to be less predictable as it contains some (random?) characters. In the Netherlands you need either the additional code (meldcode) on part 2 of your registration or, nowadays, via DigiD login you can also transfer the car. But apart from this, I wouldn't just share your VIN with everyone on a public forums (or Facebook/Instagram/etc) as it could be used for other purposes.

Also keep in mind that what Power_uP meant with matching engine numbers that it matches with the registration of your car. Here in the Netherlands we don't register the engine numbers. This means you can't tell if your engine is the same as it came with from the factory.
