You need to (wet)sand them before you can properly polish them. Start with a bigger grit, something like 240, or maybe even bigger, and start sanding till all those pitts are gone, then work your way up to finer grits, all the way up to 1500-2000. The finer you go, the better the end result will be. Make sure that with every step, you sand away the scratches of the previous step.
After that is done, you take something like Meguiars metal polish, and you polish it with that. It will be a lot of work, your hands will get black, your fingers will get sore. In the end, the result will be very rewarding. It's not a hard job, it just takes a lot of time. I've done the lips on my ssr's, by hand, and it has taken me about 3 hours per lip, and i've only gone up to grit 1200 because thats all the local shop had. Very happy with the end result tho ![]() ![]() Top is polished, bottom untouched. And the finished result: ![]() |
