totta Crolla Wrote:oldeskewltoy Wrote:The head looks to be original(uncut), measure the thickness it should be around 115.9mm to 116mm thick. I've learned this quite recently.... The race shop near me told me the measurement - 4.563" , or 115.9002mm. I've measured a few heads so far... the thickest was 116.2, but that head was NOT clean, and so gasket residue likely was the difference. Finally, I've had a couple of chats with a few members about this... the "accepted" logic was that Toyota made them to a set measurement in mm... so the thought was 116.0000. The difference between 115.9 and 116 as measured in SAE scale is 4.563" to 4.567". 4 thousandths is minimal when it comes to a head cut, so either 115.9, or 116 is the thickness of an uncut head. Where to measure.... I measure at the front of the head, close the intake camshaft front cam cap. It should measure the same from anywhere on the top gasket surface to the mounting surface.
