weber carbs are fine, if they are jetted and set up in a correct way, just as Solex-Mikuni or DellOrtho DHLA's are fine if jetted right and totally and utterly CRAP when incorrectly jetted.
I've done 30.000km with my Weber carbs so far and no big problems which weren't related to me doing stupid things (like switching the jets and missing the fact that i lost a main jet and then wondering why the car doesn't run right, stinks of fuel and makes no power anymore, no wonder with 3 main jets size 130 and 1 500 )The choke mechanism on Solex-Mikuni carbs is WAAAAAY better then Weber carbs, so that's a big advantage, disadvantage is that jets and venturis are harder to find for those carbs. Go to Speedcentre Geldermalsen for a tuning session of the carbs, or do as i do and go to Sportscar Service Tilburg. That guy is a wizard with the carbs. He tuned my carbs to perfection, without even driving the thing out of his workshop, and he doesn't have a dyno, but 40+ years of experience in ovalracing
