That's a problem you'll have with any lip. Shipping kills for items that are relatively bulky.
What you could try is have them cut the lip in half so that it is no longer an oversized item (the length>1m means its a special item to ship). You have to figure out a way to bond the halves back together, but shipping will be a fraction of the full size package.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear
