I don´t think the moment of interia is the problem with bigger wheels. Its the overall gearing.
If you change to bigger wheels with a low profile tyres, while your outside diameter stays the same you won´t change your gearing, same stress on drivetrain than before. Therefore if you change from, lets say 185/60/R14 to 195/45/15 you will reduce stress and the car will get handle better, during the low profile.
