Now we are seriously getting somewhere!!!
![]() After the sandblasting, I can see that I've been a bit lacy, or just not too good at removing the coating from the underside of the car... But I've removed the remains where I'm in doubt that there could be remaining rust... And now I've begun priming it. And my friend did some seam welding on the front towers. I've also begun disassembling the engine, had a look at the crank, and the cams. This Saturday my friend who is a mechanic and I will change the head gasket to a HKS 2mm steel, and ARP head struts! Looking forward to it. Here's some pics for you guys! Here's a little update. (with good and bad news.)
Let's start out with the good! Today we disassembled connecting rod bearings 1 and 4. And they are in mint condition! So no changing is needed. And the bad... Then we removed the cylinder head. But in the process one of the head bolts snapped. Leaving the bottom half stuck! So tomorrow I have to contact a local cylinder shop, to get them to remove the remaining bit... ![]() I must also admit that I've been getting a lot of new parts in the past. But I haven't had the time to show them to you guys. But here is a little update in the new parts for the lady. Enjoy Regards Lars Veiss, Denmark Currently |

Hey all!
Yesterday I removed my knock sensor from the engine block, just to have a look at it's condition... But when I tried to take it off, it just fell apart! Guess that's my luck. So now I'm scouting for a new one. ![]() I went ahead and modified the front bumper, but the outcome will be a surprise! I think it looks the business! I'm done priming all the corners on the bottom side of the car. Today I'm going to spray the whole thing. Looking forward to it. And getting done with the tedious part with the body, and on with working on the engine! I've also been doing some welding on my wire harness for my MS. Here's a "workshop" pic ![]() ![]() Regards Lars Veiss, Denmark Currently |

The sandblasting revealed some rust in the frame by the front windscreen. So I took care of it today.
It's the common AE86 syndrome, see for yourself at the pictures. Here is the sight that met me: ![]() Let's open and have a look: ![]() Hmmm not good! Now on with the cutting and fitting of a new peace! ![]() And now the bad metal is replaced, and ready for sanding and priming. ![]() Regards Lars Veiss, Denmark Currently |

It's been a while since my last update, but I've been very busy working on the car.
I had a deadline with the auto paint shop... But when he saw the car he went nuts, and wouldn't paint it... He told me there was too much work in it... I was shocked! ![]() I had worked day and night to make the deadline, and then he told me the car was crap... But I wouldn't let one man ruin my "AE86-adventure" so I contacted another painter, who gladly took the job, and gave me alot of good advice regarding the modification of my bumpers. I've come to the conclusion that the first painter didn't have the time or just was too lacy to take the job, then it was better to just throw mud at my car... What a jerk! ![]() But it all ended out for the better, I'm getting the job done for two thirds the price which the moron painter said, and probably a lot better. Since the last time I updated, I have sealed all the joints underneath the car, and primed it, then I gave it two layers of black. Then I sealed the joints inside the car, then primed it and one layer of black paint. After a lot of consideration I removed the battery mounting plate, in favour of getting my air filter out in the front inner wing. Then I mounted my spare "front bridge" and my newly painted rear axle assembly, with my new Prothane bushings mounted. And now she's on the ground! ![]() We also managed to close the key hole in my fuel filler lit. And mount my wheels, to see if the rear wings needed work. But happily the fit like a glove! Yesterday I picked up my engine block from the engine-workshop, they had drilled out and retapped the mounting whole with the broken bolt. So I started cleaning the block and gave it a layer of paint. I sure think it looks the business. I guess that sums it up for this time.
