Travel destinations in Japan
Hi All!

During the entirety of May and some of June I'll be travelling to Japan (Tokyo and Osaka for sure, and day trips to surrounding areas). What AE86-related places would you suggest visiting?

Already on my list:

If you're going to Nagoya, Noby Booth is a good visit, he is a busy man, but he's very welcoming if you're nice and buy some stuff.

And if you're in that area, both the Toyota museums are a very good visit:

Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology

Toyota Automobile Museum

And what i did is searching through the stock of UpGarages near where i was staying for interesting stuff and bought some parts for my cars Smile

No Mount Haruna? Big Grin

I would recommend visiting the Ikaho Toy, Doll & Car Museum, where the original Fujiwara Tofu storefront from the Initial D movie has been preserved for future generations. It's unclear whether the Fujino Tofu store was the original one that inspired Suichi Shigeno, but Andrew Lau had the tofu store's front adjusted to read Fujiwara Tofu instead of Fujino Tofu. Mr Fujino never changed it back.

In Tokyo - on Odaiba island, there was an arcade I went to; but it had the full size Trueno and FD RX7, which you sat into and played Initial D 3rd stage or whatever game it was.
Also near by there was a Toyota show room. Bear in mind though this was many years ago !

In Osaka I just ate and drank and shopped for arcade/retro games, but you wouldn't be too far from Kyoto so defo go to Carland like you have listed.

If its your first time going to Japan you're gonna fall in love with the place. I'm very jealous !

Those are some great suggestions! I've added the links to the first post and will keep updating it when I find something interesting.

The meet in Takao was great, got to know some new, interesting and friendly people, saw many cool cars and then went to the local and very impressive shrine.

Also, in the meantime I've managed to receive delivery of the deAgostini AE86 kit. If you don't know what it is, absolutely check it out! They only ship within Japan, and I've been trying to get a hold of it since a couple years already. It's very literally the size of a check-in luggage bag, so I might as well just check in the box as it is.
