Main battery live
When I bought my car it was fitted with an internal battery master switch and the previous owner had cut the battery main live to extend and send it to the switch from the battery in the engine bay. I'm keen to change this back to the original (Toyota reliable!) set up.
Does anyone know how the original wiring goes and is it possible to buy the main battery to starter lead and install it or should it be attached to the main wiring loom somehow? An analogue brain in a digital World |

The main battery cable is mostly separate from the rest as far as I remember. I think it should not be too difficult to create a new one with some decent cable and lugs. Have it lying at home but I'm away for the week so cant look it up right now. The big cable only goes from the battery to the starter, the rest was attached directly to the battery post with smaller cables.
Working from 2 year old memories here though. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

In the EWD for EU/AU in only describes how the loom is routed:
The battery terminal (7) is directly connected to the startermotor and the fusebox. This larger diagram shows you in more detail what is connected to the positive terminal: There are three additional foldout pages in the EWD where you can find A to F, but my guess is that all of those are after the fusebox. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop:

There should also be a straight feed to / from the alternator

The alternator feed is a big white wire in the engine loom, separate from the starter cable.
The only thing in the starter cable loom is the power cable and a much smaller black start signal cable. All of these things attach to the battery terminal through fusible links. You need to figure out where the battery was separated from the rest of the car. To me it would make the most sense if someone routed a fat cable from the battery terminal to the cutoff switch and back again to somewhere near the battery terminal and attached it to the fusible links somehow.
