4age fwd to rwd wiring
Hello
I was thinking that perhaps I would find someone that would be kind enough to help me sort out wiring a 4age 16v that was taken from a ae92 and put into an ae86. I have the complete fwd engine wiring , ecu ,ignitor, coil, distributor. What would be the minimum amount of wiring to get it started? any help is welcomed here or at [email protected] The engine is a 4a-ge 16v, TVIS , red and black cam cover (115hp) if I remember good. Thanks in advance! |

If it is a later TVIS engine replacing the original TVIS engine it should
plug right into the AE86 wiring loom. You should not have to use any of the FWD stuff unless you are missing the original AE86 wiring loom. Cheers... jondee86 |

Then you have a big and not much fun job ahead !!!
If you install the ECU in the left side kick panel (RHD car) the loom will not be long enough to reach, and all the wires will need to be extended. Most likely you will need to de-loom the wiring, identify every plug, and lay it all out on the floor. You will also need the third ECU plug that connects to the under-dash loom. Can't remember exactly why, but I know I had to have that plug when I did my conversion Do you still have the car side of the instrument panel loom that connects to the engine loom via a big square(ish) plug on the firewall above the back of the engine ? Cheers... jondee86 |

I managed to start it (with start fluid) for a second but then it stalls. I have to work on that. On the third plug I gave 12v to 3 wires. my big issue is that as far as I have read, the injector power feed should be yellow wire and I have lots of them

Just remember that the ECU is connected to injector ground, and those grounds are all connected internally inside the ECU (batch fire)... shouldnt be too hard to figure out which wire is which.. that's where a multimeter comes in handy.

Is it MAP or AFM? On the later you need to short two pins for the fuel pump

Assuming your fuel pump is working (AFM connected), the injectors have a ground on the OEM loom, close to the injectors - connecting to one of the runners of the intake. If this ground is bad or not connected, the engine will only briefly turn over (1-2 seconds) and then stall.
