Koen's 86 - every drive a new issue
I did come across this ad earlier this week:
https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/auto-divers...8286-21010
This part is meant for the Carina TA40, but it's supposed to have a T40 / T50 gearbox as well. The Carina featured a leather shift boot, so this is the one that's supposed to be under the leather boot.

A bit of luck I guess Smile

That would be cool! Do you think that TPU will last the many movements it has to make?

I wonder how this is fitted .. it's missing the holes for the metal retainer (but I can always put them in of course) and if I look at Amayama with this partnumber there should be holes. Or are the holes covered with an rubber flap from the boot?

It's only a single photo, so I can't see how it's attached. But I did find the exact same product for sale at car.nl with a retainer plate:
https://www.car.nl/en/versnellingspookho...ine/a83702
So I guess this one doesn't have the same metal attachments as the AE86.

The TA40 retainer might line up to the AE86 holes, but I guess the boot itself is too small. I will keep searching Smile

Last week some more bits arrived from my marketplace accident. The previous owner of the grey car sold me everything he had (86's Wink) so I had it shipped to me. It would have taken me 2 or 3 more drives to get everything home. Hiring a truck was a lot easier. It came with about 15m3 of wheels/parts. I still have to sort them.

This car was also in the truck. I've looked at it in Germany and it's a nice (bit rough) car with very good spec/parts. Didn't pay much more attention. Some parts I want(ed) for my rally-car so I was easily convinced that I could use it.

Last weekend DarkSupra dropped by to look/laugh at my purchase and it didn't take him a lot of time to figure out that the car has some history.

Turns out it's the car of the thumbnail and it has won it's class in the 24h classic 2017 (which is 3 hours Tongue)

A previous owner even made a whole YouTube channel with inboards of this car.

It came with documents. This is all from 2014. I'm wondering if it was a fresh build back then or that there is even more history from before. The car contains many parts that could be "real" Group A. Or a previous owner (the builder?) just used those bits because he had them lying around.

It did came with the centerlocks. Totally changes the car Smile

So now my plans to rip all good parts of and sell it seem like a waste of this machine ... I guess I own another one Banging head

That's an amazing purchase! Thumbs up!
Do the documents also qualify the car for historic Group A racing, or does it only qualify if it was actually used in racing during the 1980s?

About the shift boot quest, I found an auction in Japan that has both the normal shift boot and also the inner boot:

Today I decided to fix the rattles of my shifter, so I took it apart. I was surprised to find the boot you're looking for, and on mine, it's actually connected as one part on the shift boot. So I have a partnumber for you:

58288-12080 is what you're looking for. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find this part to exist in any database.
